During his residency, his research focused on the development and evaluation of new diagnostic imaging techniques for the eye, particularly in the areas of glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, diabetic macular edema, age-related macular degeneration, and uveitis. After completing his habilitation under Prof. Kampik at the Eye Clinic of LMU Munich, he took over as director of the Glaucoma Outpatient Clinic at the Eye Clinic of the Technical University of Munich, where he expanded the range of glaucoma surgeries offered, including minimally invasive procedures and cataract surgery.
